6.8.6.6-6.8.6.8 Authorized Firearms AddendumMANUAL of the Long Beach Police Department TRAINING Page 1 of 3 LBPD Manual Section 6.8.6.6 – 6.8.6.8 –Addendum Revision February 26, 2019 ADDENDUM 6.8.6.6 AUTHORIZED FIREARMS – PRIMARY UNIFORM HOLSTER WEAPONS Officers may carry as their primary uniform holster weapon either revolvers or semi- automatic weapons of the following caliber: .38, .357 magnum (using .38 special rounds), .45 long colt, 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. Primary uniform holster weapons must be between 4-inches and 6-inches in barrel length. Weapons with ported barrels are prohibited. A) Approved Revolvers – .38, .357 magnum (using .38 special rounds only) and .45 long colt 1) All Smith & Wesson, Ruger and Taurus double action revolvers B) Approved Semi-Automatic Pistols – 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP 1) 1911 type pistols a) Colt, Les Baer, Springfield, Kimber, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, Night Hawk, Double Star, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, STI, Caspian, and Rock River Arms b) Para Ordnance - LDA models are only approved for officers who have purchased and qualified with the pistol prior to 7/31/2011. 2) Sig Sauer a) P Series and SIGPRO 3) Beretta a) 90 Series 4) Heckler & Koch a) USP all models, Variant 1 thru 10; 5) Glock a) Generations 1 thru 5 6) Springfield Armory a) XD, XDM, EMP 7) Smith & Wesson M&P 8) Walther P Series MANUAL of the Long Beach Police Department TRAINING Page 2 of 3 LBPD Manual Section 6.8.6.6 – 6.8.6.8 –Addendum Revision February 26, 2019 ADDENDUM 6.8.6.7 AUTHORIZED FIREARMS – PRIMARY NON-UNIFORM HOLSTER WEAPONS Officers may carry, as their primary non-uniform holster weapon, revolvers or semi- automatic pistols of the following caliber: .38 special, .380, .357 magnum (using .38 special rounds) 9mm, .40 caliber, .45ACP, and .45LC. Officers may carry any weapon that is authorized for primary uniform holster weapon use as a primary non-uniform weapon holster weapon. Revolvers must have a barrel length between 2-inches and 6-inches and semi-automatic pistols must have a barrel length between 3-inches and 6-inches. A) Approved Revolvers 1) Smith & Wesson double action revolvers only B) Approved Semi-Automatic Pistols 1) 1911 single stack pistols a) Same manufacturers as primary uniform weapons 2) Beretta Model 84, 85 and 8000 Mini Cougar, .380 semi-automatics 3) Smith & Wesson double-action, semi-automatics 4) Para-Ordinance 1911 single and double stack pistols; LDA models are only approved for officers who have purchased and qualified with them prior to 7/31/11. 5) Heckler & Koch a) USP/Compact, Expert, Variant 1 thru 10 6) Glock a) Generations 1 thru 5 7) Springfield Armory a) XD, XDM, EMP, and sub-compact 8) Walther a) PP/PPK/PPKS, .380 semi- automatics MANUAL of the Long Beach Police Department TRAINING Page 3 of 3 LBPD Manual Section 6.8.6.6 – 6.8.6.8 –Addendum Revision February 26, 2019 ADDENDUM 6.8.6.8 AUTHORIZED FIREARMS – BACKUP WEAPONS Officers may carry any double action only weapon authorized for primary uniform and primary non-uniform duty. Single action only weapons are prohibited as backup weapons. A) Approved Revolvers – .38 special, .357 (using .38 special rounds) 1) All Smith & Wesson double action revolvers with a minimum 2-inch barrel 2) Ruger LCR .38 revolver B) Approved Semi-Automatic Pistols (double action only) 1) .22 and .25 caliber weapons are only authorized for officers who have purchased and qualified with them prior to 12/30/11. 2) Beretta Cheetah .380 3) Walther PPK & S .380 4) Ruger LCP .380 5) Sig Sauer .380 P232 6) S&W .380 Bodyguard with laser battery removed
