As a result, the Department is unable to continue the practice of selling AR-15 ammunition to eligible employees. Effective immediately, Special Order – AR-15 Ammunition Purchase (September 30, 2014) authorizing the purchase of AR-15 ammunition is rescinded. RUN FOR 14 DAYS Memorandum Date: To: From: Subject: City of Long Beach Memorandum Working Together to Serve October 1, 2014 WATCH REPORT Jim McDonnell, Chief of Police SPECIAL ORDER-AR15 AMMUNITON PURCHASE SPECIAL ORDER This Special Order establishes policy for the sale of ammunition by the Long Beach Police Department. Effective immediately, the Long Beach Police Department will sell ammunition to sworn Long Beach Police personnel as follows: a.Sales of ammunition shall only be to full-time, sworn Long Beach PoliceOfficers. b.Ammunition may only be used for training and practice.c.Ammunition will be sold by the box, no partial boxes will be sold.ct. The maximum purchase amount will be one case (1000 rounds) pertransaction and no more than 2 cases within a twelve month period. e.The purchase price will be calculated at the Police Department's actualcost including tax. f.Employees may not resell ammunition purchased from the Long Beach Police Department.g.The Rangemaster, subject to inventory and re-supply, will regulate thequantity and availability of ammunition for sale, and can suspend the saleof ammunition at any time.h.5.56/.223 rifle ammunition can only be purchased by AR-15/M-4 riflequalified officers. i.The Rangemaster will stay within the annual ammunition budget, maintain a sufficient supply of ammunition for the Department's needs, and to the extent possible, the sale of ammunition to eligible employees.j.The Range Staff shall distribute only the amount of ammunition indicatedon the receipt presented by the purchaser.
