The subject failed to comply to verbal commands to stop and continued to walk in the street. Force used: Bodily force was attempted first to gain control. The suspect resisted and assaulted one of the officers. Baton strikes were attempted to gain control of the suspect. The suspect continued to resist and two ECDs were used to subdue the suspect. Injuries: The suspect was transported to Memorial hospital were he was treated for his injuries. The suspect sustained a cut over the left eye (3 stitches) and chin (3 stitches). The suspect had a cut to the right lower leg (1 staple). The suspect had contusions to the left and right hip areas. The suspect was diagnosed with a small brain bleed. Photographs/ Video: Photos were taken by Officer Reyes of the officers involved and the scene. Officer Okerman took photos of the suspect and his injuries. The area was checked for video recordings. There were no video cameras located that would have captured the incident. Statements: I was not able to interview the suspect because he had to be medicated at the hospital. The suspect was medicated because he was aggressive with the medical staff and was non compliant. Conclusions/Actions: In my opinion the force used was reasonable and within policy. Notifications: IA was notified due to the injuries of the suspect. Sgt Johnson responded to the hospital. WC 1 LT Kanaley was notified of the use of force and the IA response.
