Incident Summary
Dispatch:
Officer were involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that was also used in a 245 against a LASD deputy. the pursuit
ended in a TC and the suspect fled on foot.
Use Of Force:
Officers caught the suspect and the suspect was taken to the ground. The suspect fought and resisted officers, kicking
and attempting to escape. Officers used force to overcome the resistance of the suspect.
Force used:Officer Diaz:Impact weapon
Officer Mendoza: Impact weapon
Officer Moore: Impact weapon, Bodily force, Carotid
Officer Neal: Impact Weapon
Officer Tith: Carotid
Officer Wood: Impact weapon
Injuries:
The suspect received numerous injuries during the use of force and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The
had an open wound to his leg and IA was called/responded. Sgt. Zable conducted an investigation.
Four officers were injuried in the arrest, scratches, cuts and abrasions.
Photographs/Video:
Photographs were taken of the stolen vehicle at the collision location. Photos were taken of all of the suspects injuries.
Overall photos were taken of the officers and the officers injuries. There was no video equipment found in the area of the
arrest location.
Statements:
Sergeant Vanden Bosch gave the subject his Miranda rights and conducted a recorded interview. The audio was placed
into evidence and a follow-up report filed.
Conclusion: I believed the force used was reasonable, necessary and with in police.
Notifications:
WC3, Lt. Ledesma, was notified of the pursuit, the collision and the Use Of Force.
