Incident Summary
Officers were dispatched to a report of an unwelcome father of the calling party's child. The suspect returned with a
warrant for his arrest. In order to effect a lawful arrest, Officers used bodily force and ECD to subdue the subject who
refused to be arrested. The subject suffered minor injuries from the ECD probes and use-of-force. There were no injuries
to the officers. Officer Trujillo took photographs of the suspect, victim, scene, and each involved officer. There was no
video available. I met the suspect after he was transported to a local hospital and he provided a statement. See my
follow-up report. In my opinion, the force used was reasonable, effective, and within policy.
The suspect was later released not booked and admitted into the hospital. Both Violent Crimes Detective J. Bezart and
Internal Affairs Detective I. Ramirez were advised of the incident.
I notified Watch Commander Lt. P. Siavii.
Lt. D. Zapalski is the Lieutenant for North Division Watch Two.
