Incident Summary
DISPATCH:
Unit was contacted by bar employees regarding the intoxicated, unwelcomed subject attempting to fight with bar
employees and re-enter the business.
FORCE USED:
Officer Corbett used bodily force and a takedown to gain compliance from the suspect who failed to comply with verbal
commands, challenged officers to fight, and physically resisted.
Officer Herrera attempted bodily force and used the carotid restraint to gain compliance from the suspect who failed to
comply with verbal commands, challenged officers to a fight, and physically resisted.
Officer Hansen used bodily force to gain control after the suspect failed to comply with verbal orders and physically
resisted.
INJURIES:
Officer Herrera had complaint of pain to the underside of his left forearm as a result of the use of force.
The suspect had minor redness, rubbing marks on the right side of his forehead, directly above his right eyebrow. He had
small white scratches to the inside of his left knee. The suspect complained of pain to his whole body, but stated that
was due to prior serious injuries he received while in the military.
PHOTOGRAPHS/VIDEOS:
Officer E. Thai #10554 took photographs of the scene, officers, and suspect.
Surveillance cameras of partially captured the incident. A copy was unavailable at the time of the
incident.
A witness captured video with his cell phone near the end of the incident. Attempts to receive the video were
unsuccessful. Documented in supplemental report .0003.
STATEMENTS:
The suspect had extreme mood swings and was emotionally unstable. He provided limited statements. Documented in
the MAIN report. The interview was digitally recorded and downloaded into Mideo.
CONCLUSIONS/ACTIONS:
Based on my investigation I believe the force used was reasonable and in-policy.
NOTIFICATIONS:
On-call Internal Affairs Sergeant B. Johnson was notified due to the minor head injury.
Watch Commander Lieutenant Giesige was notified of the incident.
